Ice Cream Vans Make a Huge Difference to People

Ice Cream Vans to make a huge difference in 2019

The Ice Cream Van, a British symbol, a classic, something we all know and love.
But does the Ice Cream Van still bring joy to the hearts of children and warm company to the elderly every time their chimes chime? Well, yes. With ice cream vans on the rise once again after a massive drop a few years back, certain companies are ready to make an impact and bring the tradition back to life.

After the disappearance of ice cream vans during world war two, victory day saw the colourful vehicle back to the streets in celebration, and even today, Ice Cream Vans can be seen at the most prestigious events throughout the UK and even the world! From Buckingham palace to Edinburgh Castle and beyond.

We speak to Mark Ellinor, Ice Cream Company owner from Kent, who has personal experience catering for Royalty at Buckingham Palace who says “Ice Cream Vans can be a strong symbol of Britain, and when done properly and professionally, can truly make a difference to peoples’ lives. It’s hard work, and in rainy old England sometimes not the most financially rewarding, but what we get to see and do each day, that’s what matters. Taking time to talk to old ladies and Gentlemen on the rounds who might not get to see or speak to anyone all day, yes we could get to more stops and quicker but, that’s not what it’s all about. That’s not what community and Ice Cream Vans like ours are about. “

Robert Ellinor who runs his own company Fundaes Ices is launching a big road safety campaign later in the year; he says “Road safety is a huge issue and an ongoing battle, not just for the children but getting motorists to act responsible especially when around ice creams vans. We need to get the message stuck into people’s heads, see an ice cream van, slow down, be alert, and help us keep the children safe. He will be pushing a massive campaign to help raise this awareness and also develop a reward system for the children who stop, look and listen correctly to encourage the safe behaviour.”
We look forward to seeing and hearing more about that soon.

Ice Cream Vans are breaking records, not just world records like back in 2018 when over 80 ice cream vans convoyed together in the largest chiming line ever seen, but for charity work as well. Did you know that tens of thousands of pounds each year are donated and raised by ice cream vendors for good causes?

These are just a few glimpses at what Ice Cream Vans mean to 2019 and what they will bring. To find out more about Mark Ellinors company and what they can do for you, your event or good cause, see www.ellinorsicecream.co.uk
